December 9, 1983, Press Release, Honda releases the land sports bike "HONDA MTX50R" equipped with a water-cooled, two-stroke engine

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. will release the Honda MTX50R, a land sports bike equipped with a water-cooled, two-stroke, 49cc, single-cylinder engine that allows for comfortable riding on rough terrain and in urban areas, on December 10th.

The engine of this MTX50R uses Honda's unique hemispherical combustion chamber with excellent combustion efficiency. In addition, it is equipped with HERP (Honda Torque Amplifier Resonator), which demonstrates powerful output characteristics at medium and low speeds, and a balancer that reduces vibrations unique to two-stroke engines, achieving both powerful and smooth riding.

The front wheel suspension is telescopic and the rear wheel suspension is the popular Pro-Link type. In addition, both the front and rear wheels have the longest cushion stroke in the 50cc class (front: 200mm / rear: 170mm), which allows it to exhibit excellent road following performance from rough ground to paved roads.

The frame is a full-fledged semi-double cradle frame that maintains high rigidity even with strong impacts when riding on rough ground. In addition, the slim body with good foot placement, combined with the seat laid out to the top of the tank, allows you to obtain an appropriate riding posture depending on the road conditions.
