Honda MCX50

"Honda MCX 50" released in innovative style


 Honda Motor Co., Ltd. will launch "New Honda MCX 50", a New American style custom bike with innovative styling and rich equipment from June 1. 

 This MCX 50 engine is equipped with a newly designed air-cooled 2-cycle 49 cc, 7.0 hp engine. In order to enjoy comfortable driving with relaxation by urban driving and touring, it has been designed to be user-friendly from medium to low speed to high speed range. 
 The overall design is a novelty combined with a metallic streamline from the tank bottom to the tail that tightens the covered handle and side view constituted by sharp straight lines together with the rear cowl etc. composed of subtle curves and the like New American style more emphasis. 
 In addition, a hydraulic disc brake (front wheel) that demonstrates excellent braking performance is adopted at the front. In addition, the original design cast wheel, 35 w / 35 w large square headlights, simple and visibly speed & tachometer, push type fuel cap with automatic locking device are equipped with fulfilling equipment. 
 With this, Honda's 50cc sports bikes became five models including this MCX50, and it was a fulfilling series that can meet the needs of a wide range of customers. 

 The sales plan is scheduled to be 20,000 a year. 
 The standard cash price is 169,000 yen 
  (Hokkaido · Okinawa price is 3,000 yen higher, some remote islands are excluded).

Honda TLM50

The Honda TLM50 was an entry level full sized trail bike that shared many interchangeable parts with the TLR250 but utilised Honda's 49cc air-cooled 2-stroke engine, designated model AD07.
Features included:

Honda MM50 Raccoon

The MM50 Raccoon was released on March 1, 1980,  designated as model AD02 and was only sold in Japan. Based on Honda's first 50cc 2-stroke sports bike MB50 released in 1979, it was developed with the concept of "leisure bike running lightly in downtown area". The MM 50 was styled as a custom cruiser and the terms  "easy ride" and " Harajuku bike " were also used in advertisement publicity .

The MM50 shared a lot of parts with the MT 50 and dual purpose off road style model. The air-cooled 2-stroke with reed valve with built-in AD02E type 1-axis balance shaft. The single cylinder engine was tuned to make the performance more suitable as a city commuter as opposed to AC01 E type engine for MB50. Revised tuning gave stronger low to medium torque.

Maximum power: 7 ps / 9,000 rpm → 6 ps / 7,000 rpm
Maximum torque: 0.56 kg - m / 8,000 rpm -> 0.62 kg - m / 6, 500 rpm

Featuring a front 17"and a rear 14" spoke wheels, a carry rack, a low exhaust and a low seat with a ground height of 700mm . It also featured more forward mounted foot pegs (compared to the MB5) with a linkage for the gear lever. On the design side it features a rectangular headlight and an X shaped backbone frame.

It was discontinued due to a model change to MBX 50 · MTX 50 R due to the introduction of the water cooling engine of MB 50 · MT 50 of parts sharing vehicle in 1982 .




The following bike is owned by Honda M Club member Chris Bronstijn who bought this unused bike in the Netherlands, before this the bike was in a museum in Switzerland!
